Early-bird registration for Primary Care Update CME

Norton Healthcare

Registration is open for the 23rd annual Primary Care Update. Sign up by Oct. 8 and save, plus make sure you have a seat at this popular continuing medical education opportunity.

This year’s guest faculty and keynote presenter is Donald R. Teater, M.D., MPH, owner of Teater Health Solutions and a practicing physician at Meridian Behavioral Services in Waynesville, North Carolina. Since 2004, Dr. Teater has focused on the intersection of pain, opioids and addiction.

Dr. Teater was the lead facilitator for the expert panel during the development of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain. He continues to work as a consultant with the CDC to educate prescribers on appropriate treatment for pain.

The Primary Care Update also will include 11 local faculty, Nov. 8 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville, Kentucky.

This program will provide clinical updates on a variety of topics that are commonly seen in the treatment of adult patients in the primary care setting. In addition to updating attendees on clinical guidelines and best practices, presenters will include three to five pearls that will be relevant to primary care practitioners in their own practice settings.

Physicians will learn best practices for commonly seen diagnoses to create evidence-based strategies to improve patient care. Topics will include management of patients on daily opioids, dementia, infectious diseases, genetic testing, diabetes care, colorectal complications, management of anxiety and related disorders.
