The upcoming Pediatric Bioethics Day on Wednesday, Sept. 4, gives physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, therapists and hospital ethics committee members the opportunity to discuss approaches that can support families when life-sustaining medical interventions are no longer considered medically beneficial. Appropriate communication can be difficult when parents and providers do not share the same values and can lead to conflict and difficulty with making medical decisions. Pediatric Bioethics Day sessions will provide approaches that clinicians can use to support such families and resolve value differences in treatment decisions.
Identical sessions will be offered at two different locations in order to facilitate access to the content:
- A “Breakfast and Learn” session from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Norton Healthcare – St. Matthews campus
- A “Lunch and Learn” session from noon to 1 p.m. at Norton Children’s Hospital in downtown Louisville
Continuing education credits are available for attending.
