2020 Child Abuse Prevention and Recognition Conference in March

The 2020 Child Abuse Prevention and Recognition Conference will help improve health care workers’ recognition of high-risk situations to enhance child abuse and neglect prevention efforts.

The conference will be held March 20, 2020, at Norton Children’s Hospital, in the S. Randolph Scheen Family Conference Center.

The conference is intended for physicians, physician extenders and nurses in pediatrics, family medicine and emergency medicine, as well as therapists and social workers.

The curriculum is designed to help attendees:

  • Recognize high-risk situations for neglect and child abuse.
  • List community resources/support for prevention.
  • Identify tools for prevention of child abuse.
  • Discuss the criteria for Child Protective Services case referrals.
  • Describe the Child Advocacy Center experience and interdisciplinary approach to child abuse management.
