Norton Healthcare Provider

Behind the scenes at Norton Cancer Institute – Brownsboro

The project brings all of Norton Cancer Institute’s specialty cancer services together under one roof for the first time.

When the new Norton Cancer Institute – Brownsboro opens in November, it will be a big first for Norton Healthcare. With three floors and 48,500 square feet of space, this $38 million investment will bring all of Norton Cancer Institute’s specialty cancer services together under one roof for the first time.

Lots of work is going on behind the scenes to make this state-of-the-art facility happen. Here are some eye-popping details that have gone into building Norton Cancer Institute – Brownsboro:

  • Concrete – 4.4 million pounds
  • Drywall – 175,000 square feet
  • Exterior studs and track – 30,000 linear feet
  • Interior studs and track – 105,000 linear feet
  • Light fixtures – 840
  • Cove lighting – 1,900 feet
  • Electrical and control panels – 30
  • Conduit – 14 miles
  • Wire – 65 miles
  • Receptacles – 1,250
  • Wall blocking – 15,000 linear feet
  • Approximate work/trade hours – 110,000

The building was actively designed to be an instrument of care. Expertise and compassionate care will come together to meet the unique needs of each patient. It will feature curved main corridors and strategic use of colors, textures and materials to make wayfinding easier. Innovative pre-registration processes will pair with new technologies to minimize wait time before, during and after visits.

Whole-person care will be reflected through an outdoor meditation garden and interior artwork supported by special gifts made through the Norton Healthcare Foundation. A stunning art glass feature will grace the main lobby, and original paintings inspired by the beauty of caring will distinguish each of the three floors.
