Abbott and the Association of Black Cardiologists will host a webinar Oct. 27, “Advanced Heart Failure and Black Americans: Strategies for Improved Patient Outcomes.”
The program will feature a panel of presenters from 5 to 6 p.m., including Kelly C. McCants, M.D., medical director of the Norton Heart & Vascular Institute Advanced Heart Failure Program and executive director of Norton Healthcare Institute for Health Equity. This virtual program is designed for providers across the United States to discuss strategies for improving access to advanced technology for more minorities with heart failure.

The program’s objectives include:
- Discussing the prevalence and mortality of Black people living with advanced heart failure
- Defining key factors for identifying patients who may benefit from advanced therapies
- Exploring peer-reviewed data on common barriers to accessing health care for minorities
- Reviewing the current management and treatment options for New York Heart Association Class III/IIIb and Class IV heart failure, both preserved and reduced ejection fraction, including the CardioMEMS HF System and the HeartMate 3 Left Ventricular Assist System
