By integrating rehabilitation, wellness and performance under one roof, the Norton Sports Health Performance & Wellness Center is more than a workout facility geared for athletes. It’s for people throughout their lives who simply want to live healthier lifestyles.
In early 2022, Norton Sports Performance moved into the almost 40,000-square-foot facility that brings together space for physical therapy, sports performance training, an open gym and the Louisville Slugger Hitting Science Center.
Training to reduce risk of injury
Norton Sports Performance offers in-season and out-of-season training for athletes of all ages and all skill levels, from weekend warrior to professional. The goal is to help athletes perform at their peak while remaining as safe as possible.
You can’t eliminate all injuries, but you can decrease the incidence. That starts in the offseason by training appropriately, so when the seasons begins, athletes can perform at the highest level while reducing their risk of injury.
The Louisville Slugger Hitting Science Center is a one-of-a-kind facility for baseball and softball players, with many Major League Baseball players as clients. It offers diagnostics and analysis with a customized program to enhance an athlete’s performance. Its camps and clinics can help players hone their hitting skills.
Norton Sports Performance offers coaching and equipment for anyone at any age who wants to work on their fitness, whether it’s strength training, cardiovascular fitness or both. Someone can come in, work out and get some direction from one of our certified strength and conditioning coaches, if they want it. We also offer classes, and our staff nutritionist advises clients on how to fuel and hydrate to meet their fitness or performance goals.
Overcoming injuries if they happen
Norton Sports Performance also works with athletes who are injured. It’s devastating for athletes to be sidelined, but we’re there to help them overcome their injury and get back to achieving their goals.

We’re fully integrated with Norton Sports Health, so athletes can receive evaluations from our physicians and get the appropriate care in a timely manner. For athletes recovering from injury, KORT physical therapy is integrated with Norton Sports Health.
Regaining range of motion and strength through physical therapy is only the first step to being ready to return to competitive sports. We offer a unique program to bridge the return to competition with specific, dynamic training tailored to the individual, so athletes are physically and mentally ready to perform at the highest level.
I played baseball, basketball and football my whole life. As someone who came back from an open tibia fracture playing basketball as a high school sophomore, I know the struggle of trying to return to sports after a serious injury. It’s one of the things that attracted me to orthopedics and sparked my interest in the recovery process.
While I was still in residency, I began thinking about what an integrated facility might look like. Fortunately, at Norton Healthcare, I found others who shared my vision and helped the Norton Sports Health Performance & Wellness Center come to fruition.
The new facility is spectacular. My kids use it. So do professional athletes. But we’re not finished. As we continue to evolve, we’re constantly looking at programs we can add or different groups we can bring in. The bottom line is, we want Norton Sports Health Performance & Wellness Center to help as many people as possible.
