‘MedChat’ podcast episode 12 on DEA provider compliance and safeguards

Episode 12 of the “MedChat” podcast is provided in two parts to address provider compliance with guidelines of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), as well as other safeguards when prescribing controlled substances.

Part One of the “DEA Provider Compliance” episode discusses the latest guidelines related to administrative aspects of prescribing controlled substances to avoid any compliance issues. It defines the role of the DEA, discusses key aspects of compliance relative to the practice setting, provides insight on important and recurring opioid risk areas and details practical strategies and tips to reduce opioid risks.

Part Two of the episode addresses common concerns for DEA compliance in practice and red flags for a DEA investigation.

Moderator Stephen P. Wright, M.D., medical director, pediatrics, with Norton Medical Group, speaks with Dennis Wichern, managing partner, Prescription Drug Consulting LLC, and a former DEA special agent-in-charge.
