Monalisa M. Tailor, M.D., new president of GLMS, seeks to advocate in shifting medical times

Monalisa M. Tailor, M.D., internal medicine physician with Norton Community Medical Associates – Barret, has been named president of the Greater Louisville Medical Society (GLMS).

Dr. Tailor, a GLMS member since 2006, plans to focus her one-year term on advocating for medicine, physicians and patients as decision-makers adjust to a new normal amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our differences that exist in our specialties are now outweighed by our commonality of the practice and understanding of medicine,” Dr. Tailor said. “Our decision-makers, legislators and leaders will seek our counsel on how to proceed forward. We will need to have a collective voice of medicine, and organized medicine like GLMS will be our venue to do that.”

Dr. Tailor also plans to offer more programming to help providers to take care of themselves during stressful times.

“In these times it is OK to disconnect, de-stress and take time for ourselves. Remember the simple things; make sure you are sleeping, eating, getting adequate exercise and staying in touch with your family and friends. Remember your colleagues are your confidants to share your concerns,” she said.

Dr. Tailor is a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and received her doctor of medicine degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2010. She was the chief medical resident in internal medicine at UofL from 2013 to 2014.

Dr. Tailor was voted by her peers as one of Louisville Magazine’s Top Docs for 2019.
