Register now for 2018 Pediatric Bioethics Day

Registration is open for the continuing medical education 2018 Pediatric Bioethics Day – Responding to a Parent’s Hope for a Miracle: Practices and Resources, taking place on September 5, 2018 at Norton Healthcare – St. Matthews campus and Norton Children’s Hospital.

Providers may struggle to appropriately care for families who believe in the chance of a miracle cure that will save their child. Appropriate communication with these parents is difficult and practitioners are not always aware of how to address this dilemma without discounting the parents’ beliefs. This activity will present the different ways parents evoke miracle language and how to use specific practices to provide care for families who hold out hope for a miracle. Communication tools that respect the decision-makers’ beliefs while discussing optimal treatment options will be discussed.

To facilitate access to this content across Norton Healthcare’s campuses, this lecture will be provided twice. A “Breakfast and Learn” session at the Norton Healthcare – St. Matthews campus will be followed by an identical “Lunch and Learn” session at Norton Children’s Hospital in downtown Louisville.

Norton Healthcare gratefully acknowledges support for this activity from the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
