Research program offers clinicians opportunities

Norton Healthcare offers a wide range of research opportunities for clinicians and their practice groups, as well as clinicians partnering from other entities. More than 850 studies were active or pending through mid-December 2017.

“Norton Healthcare’s research support infrastructure makes a difference in both physician recruitment and retention,” said Stephen W. Wyatt, DMD, MPH, chief research executive, Norton Healthcare Research Office.

“Our clinical studies keep our patients here rather than having them travel elsewhere, disrupting the whole family at a time when they need to be close to home,” said Rhonda Hoffman, system director, research, Norton Healthcare Research Office.

Norton Healthcare’s clinical studies cover a broad spectrum of disciplines, including cardiovascular diseases, headaches and migraines, neurosurgery, oncology, pediatrics and spine disorders.

The research program draws the praise of senior Norton Healthcare administrators.

“Innovation and research are essential parts of care delivery for Norton Healthcare,” said Steven T. Hester, M.D., MBA, division president, Provider Operations, and system chief medical officer. “A strong research infrastructure helps us attract and retain quality providers who deliver these cutting-edge therapies.”

“Norton Healthcare foundations are committed to advancing the research agenda and funding innovation that will change our future,” said Lynnie Meyer, Ed.D., R.N., CFRE, senior vice president, Women’s and Children’s Community Partnerships, and chief development officer. “We want to ensure taht our patients and families have access to the very best of medical science right her in our hometown.”
