Norton Healthcare historically contracted with Greater Louisville Medical Society (GLMS)/CAPS (MedCentral) to process providers’ initial appointment and reappointment credentialing applications.
As of October 1, 2019 all provider applications will be processed internally by the System Medical Staff Office using a web-based application called MD-App/MD-Staff.
We work directly with providers to initiate the application process, and providers are prompted to complete their application online via an email link. Once completed and submitted by the provider, the application is processed entirely by the System Medical Staff Office.
We also contact providers and their office managers prior to their two-year mark to begin the reappointment process. Incomplete privilege applications cannot be presented to the Norton Healthcare board of directors for approval. Providers cannot practice until their privileges are approved by the board.
In addition to MD-App/MD-Staff, we are implementing several technology-based strategies to enhance processing, including:
- Electronic peer references (Pronto)
- Pre-populated application (based on last application)
- Electronic document signature
- Application fees payment; we will not charge application processing fees to employed physicians
- Reports on completion times for provider submissions, internal processing and committee review turnaround times.
