Space is limited for the Sports Medicine Symposium

The Sports Medicine Symposium, provided by Norton Sports Health and KORT, is designed to provide physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and other health care clinicians with the latest scientific and clinical information about sports medicine, including injury prevention, medical and surgical treatments, and rehabilitative therapies for athletes. This year’s focus will address the latest scientific and clinical information related to hot topics for the prevention of and care for common injuries in athletes. Clinicians will gain knowledge for providing patients with the most advanced evidence-based treatment options available.

This activity is targeted toward physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners in primary care and the specialties of emergency medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics, surgery and rehabilitation, as well as athletic trainers, physical therapists, emergency department and urgent care center personnel, and other clinical caregivers.


The symposium will be held Friday, June 21, at Louisville Slugger Field and Saturday, June 22, at Norton Orthopedic & Hand Center.

The deadline to register is Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Early registration is encouraged. Walk-in registration cannot be guaranteed, as this activity may be full and unable to accommodate you.

Saturday’s session is limited to 100 participants. Preference will be given to attendees registering for both days.

Ways to register:

Registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, refreshment breaks and continuing education credits. Parking cost is not included.

A block of rooms is available at a special conference rate (studio suite $129) at the Residence Inn Louisville Downtown.

Continuing education credits


Accreditation: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Norton Healthcare and Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team (KORT). Norton Healthcare is accredited by the Kentucky Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation: Norton Healthcare designates this live activity for a maximum of 11 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of

their participation in the activity.

Athletic trainers

KORT (BOC AP #P2546) is approved by the Board of Certification Inc. to offer continuing education to certified athletic trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 8 category A hours (8 CEUs) for Friday, June 21, and 3 category A hours (3 CEUs) for Saturday, June 22. Athletic trainers should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.

Physical therapists

Credit for Kentucky Physical Therapy Association continuing competency has been submitted for 8.0 contact hours (8 CEUs) for Friday, June 21, and 3.0 contact hours (3 CEUs) for Saturday, June 22.

Location and parking

The Friday, June 21, session will be held at Louisville Slugger Field, located at 401 E. Main St. in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Limited on-site parking is available free of charge. If the parking lot is full, other options near the venue are available at the participant’s expense.

The Saturday, June 22, session will be held at Norton Orthopedic & Hand Center, located in Norton Medical Plaza II – Brownsboro, 9880 Angies Way, in northeastern Louisville, Kentucky. Free parking is available on-site.
