Pediatric cardiologist Delwyn E. McOmber, M.D., has joined Norton Children’s Heart Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, as part of the Pediatric HeartCare Partners integration with Norton Children’s.
In addition to practicing pediatric cardiology, Dr. McOmber also will serve as medical director of the Norton Children’s Medical Group pediatric exercise lab and University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. McOmber has a passion for exercise testing. Dr. McOmber will take a different approach to helping children with congenital heart anomalies. Rather than focusing on what patients “can’t do,” he’ll be guiding patients toward what they “can do” by using exercise testing to allow patients to expand their activity safely.
Dr. McOmber, was born in and grew up in Fresno, California. After graduating from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, he attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he earned his doctor of medicine degree in 1997. After completing his residency in pediatrics at UofL, Dr. McOmber completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2003 and returned to Louisville to practice pediatric cardiology.
Dr. McOmber is also fluent in Spanish.
Dr. McOmber is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology and the American Medical Association. He and his wife, Kari, have five children.
