Norton Provider Leadership Academy

Launched in 2012 with its first cohort, the Norton Physician Leadership Academy in 2020 became the Norton Provider Leadership Academy. This academy was created to provide clinicians the opportunity to increase their understanding of the business of medicine and to prepare providers for the changing face of medicine.

Curriculum

The Norton Provider Leadership Academy provides a highly interactive, solutions-based curriculum guided by current management and leadership principles.

The curriculum offers an opportunity to enhance leadership competencies and skills to dedicated providers who are interested in preparing for the future of health care. Offered in conjunction with the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL), the academy covers different topics in each course, including:

  • The changing role of the health care leader
  • Quality improvement and measurement systems
  • Building effective teams
  • Managing physician and provider performances
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Collaborating with and influencing others
  • Health care financial management
  • Leading and managing strategic change
  • Health care law

Classes are held one Saturday a month and include on-site AAPL and Norton Healthcare instructor-led courses and speakers. Classes are not scheduled in April, June, October or December.
