Emergency medical services observational experience for stroke care

Norton Neuroscience Institute offers a professional stroke care observation program for emergency personnel.

Norton Healthcare is offering a professional, structured observation program for flight nurses, paramedics, EMTs and first responders to enhance their knowledge of stroke and learn about state-of-the-art treatment and interventions.

Recognizing the key role of EMTs and paramedics in stroke care is a priority because they are the first people who interact with the stroke patient as a part of the health care team. This program increases the already high level of care patients receive — from initial contact with a health care professional until they are released from the hospital to go home.

Christian Ralston, System Educator, for Norton Healthcare Institute for Education and Development reiterates, “the stroke shadow program encourages innovation, collaboration and the sharing of information across all the areas of care for some of the most critically ill patients. Improving the quality of care for stroke patients during transport is crucial to improving health outcomes for patients with this time-sensitive condition.”
