Through the combined expertise of Norton Women’s Care and Norton Cancer Institute, the Norton Healthcare Breast Health Program offers a fully integrated approach to breast care, designed to reduce delays, improve communication and enhance the patient experience from screening through survivorship. With employed, fellowship-trained breast radiologists supporting Kentucky and Southern Indiana, your patients have faster access to high-quality imaging and timely results, without the extended wait times often associated with screening and diagnostic mammography.
We offer mammogram direct scheduling for Norton EpicCare Link users, online self-scheduling, walk-in availability and extended hours for screening mammograms, including evenings and weekends. Multiple locations across Louisville and Southern Indiana, along with mobile mammography services, make screening and diagnostics more accessible for your patients.
Our program uses state-of-the-art 3D mammography and breast MRI, improving detection, particularly for patients with dense breast tissue or elevated risk. Automated risk assessment is embedded into every screening, with clear reporting to help identify and manage high-risk patients early. We also proactively retrieve prior imaging to ensure comprehensive longitudinal evaluation and reduce unnecessary callbacks.
Referring providers promptly receive results through real-time access in Epic. Our closed-loop reporting ensures seamless communication back to your office, supporting timely clinical decision-making.
If an abnormality is identified, our team immediately initiates the next steps. From additional imaging to biopsy coordination, we manage the full diagnostic workup, reducing administrative burden on your staff and minimizing delays in care.
Patients with abnormal mammography findings are promptly contacted to review results and schedule a follow-up. Those with BI-RADS 4 or 5 assessments receive results in person from a radiologist and meet with a dedicated nurse navigator before leaving, with a clear plan, education and next steps in place.
Our fellowship-trained breast radiologists are available for consultation on complex cases, supporting a collaborative approach to patient care. Patients requiring additional services are seamlessly referred to breast surgeons, our High-risk Breast Clinic, and subspecialized oncologists within Norton Cancer Institute. Multidisciplinary clinics enable patients to see multiple specialists in a single visit, accelerating time to treatment.
From screening and diagnostics to genetic counseling, reconstructive surgery, oncology care, clinical trials and survivorship services, the program delivers coordinated, patient-centered care. Dedicated nurse navigators, behavioral oncologists, art and music therapies, a Sexual Health Program, and additional support services through the five Norton Cancer Institute Resource Centers — four in Kentucky and one in Southern Indiana — ensure patients receive comprehensive support during their breast cancer journey.
