The risk of exposure to Ebola virus and Andes virus — a type of hantavirus — remains low in the United States. As of this update, no cases have been identified domestically.

While global surveillance continues and outbreaks in other regions may generate patient questions or clinical concern, there is currently no elevated threat to patients or staff in our facilities.

The Epic Travel Screen OPA criteria automatically update based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidance, so screening workflows remain current without manual intervention.

What Norton Healthcare’s Infection Prevention team is doing

Our Infection Prevention team is actively coordinating with Kentucky and Indiana health departments to ensure that recommended protocols are in place and that our facilities are prepared to respond appropriately if the situation changes.
