The Norton Healthcare PGY2 ambulatory care pharmacy residency program has been accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists since 2015. This program is designed to train pharmacists who specialize in the provision of ambulatory care services within an interdisciplinary team while advancing patient-centered care through quality improvement, practice-based leadership and education of the health care team. This program prepares its graduates to assume positions as clinical pharmacy specialists in ambulatory care practice in a multifacility health care system environment and to attain board certification in ambulatory care pharmacy.
This program offers direct patient care learning experiences in primary care, transitions of care, specialty pharmacy and specialty pharmacy practices, including cardiology, neurology, rheumatology, infectious diseases and oncology. Longitudinal learning experiences are also offered in project management, leadership, and population health and managed care.
In addition to developing clinical skills to manage complex chronic conditions in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team, the resident also will be involved in developing ambulatory clinical pharmacy services and precepting PGY1 residents and students.
