PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency

The Norton Hospitals PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency offers the ability to work with highly trained clinical pharmacists and be a direct part of the multidisciplinary patient care teams. The PGY2 Critical Care Program is registered in Pre-candidate status with American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Norton Healthcare is a community health system that includes the following distinctions: regional referral centers for complex medical care; DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center; teaching facility for University of Louisville School of Medicine; Advanced Orthopedic & Spine Center of Excellence for knee and hip replacement, shoulder and spine surgery. The intensive care units (ICUs) include pulmonary critical care, neurocritical care, and cardiac critical care intensivist services. Specialty surgical services include neurosurgical, neurointerventional, cardiothoracic and ECMO services.

The PGY2 critical care resident is incorporated in the ICU and emergency department (ED) teams at four adult-service hospitals: Norton Audubon Hospital; Norton Brownsboro Hospital; Norton Hospital; and Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital. The PGY2 resident will also have the opportunity to complete experiences at Norton Children’s Hospital and Kentucky Poison Center.

All pharmacy residents are eligible for Norton Healthcare’s full employee benefits. PGY2 resident receives a stipend of $31/hour (annually $64,480) plus benefits. The position requires a commitment of one calendar year.

All application materials must be submitted via the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS). There are no additional application materials required beyond PhORCAS requirements. No material, including letters of recommendation, will be accepted via U.S. mail, email or by submission in person. All candidates will be notified regarding selection for an on-site or virtual interview.

Norton Healthcare will seek permission, if necessary, to request additional information from previous schools and employers concerning candidate’s academic record and professional ability. Candidate must possess or be eligible for Kentucky licensure according to criteria established by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.

The candidate must have completed an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)-accredited PGY1 program or one in the accreditation process. A copy of the PGY1 residency certificate and Kentucky pharmacist licensure must be provided to the residency program director on or before the first day of starting the PGY2 residency program.
