Norton Neuroscience Institute recognized as multiple sclerosis leader

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has presented Norton Neuroscience Institute with its 2019 Leadership award. Norton Healthcare received the honor for its continued commitment and dedication to treating those living with MS.

“The team at Norton Neuroscience Institute has supported people living with MS for years, providing care, education and resources,” said Sherry Bramucci, director, provider engagement, with the National MS Society. “As a National MS Society Center for Comprehensive Care, they not only provide coordinated multidisciplinary care for people living with MS, but they also partner with us on programming, events and awareness opportunities. We are thrilled to extend the Services Leadership award to the Norton Neuroscience Institute, MS Center team.”

Norton Neuroscience Institute was selected based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstration of leadership efforts to help people impacted by MS live their best lives
  • Support of people living with MS by offering access to education and connecting them to resources
  • Engagement efforts to develop and utilize services throughout the MS community

“This is a distinct honor to be recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for the care and dedication we provide to our patients,” said Robert S. Tillett Jr., M.D., neurologist with Norton Neuroscience Institute, who specializes in MS care. “From the clinical care provided at the physician office to the patient navigation and support provided at the resource center level, everyone on the team is working to support the patient.”

In addition to MS care, Norton Neuroscience Institute Resource Center provides support and resources to patients living with various neurological conditions. The resource center focuses on bridging the gap between managing care and improving quality of life. The staff provides educational, therapeutic, support and exercise programs, and can assist patients with:

  • Access to medical care
  • Social Security Disability Insurance resources
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Financial challenges
  • Referrals to community resources and home health agencies

Last year, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society officially recognized Norton Neuroscience Institute as a Center for Comprehensive Care for MS. The recognition honored Norton Neuroscience Institute’s commitment to providing coordinated MS care and continuing partnership with the society to address the challenges of people living with MS.
