Norton Arm & Hand Institute Fellowship

Norton Arm & Hand Institute in Louisville, Kentucky, offers a comprehensive arm and hand surgery fellowship program that combines clinical practice, education and research opportunities. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education  and accepts two fellows per year.

Norton Arm & Hand Institute is a regional tertiary referral center for adult and pediatric patients with acute and chronic upper-extremity conditions. Fellows will receive instruction from 11 faculty members who have diverse training and experience, ensuring the fellow will be well prepared to enter clinical practice.

About the Arm and Hand Surgery Fellowship

The position is an employed fellowship with Norton Medical Group.

Training takes place in both adult and pediatric settings.

The position provides didactic interaction, support for clinical research, and training in clinical management of adult and pediatric upper-extremity conditions.

Fellows will rotate with fellowship trained hand surgeons in two-month blocks.

Norton Arm & Hand Institute faculty have busy clinical practices with well-established referral patterns, ensuring fellows will have exposure to comprehensive upper-extremity pathology.

The primary focus of the fellowship is elbow to hand pathology, with an optional two months with shoulder faculty for shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty.

Fellows will complete basic and advanced microsurgery courses.

Fellows have access to state-of-the-art Bioskills Lab for arthroscopy and fresh tissue dissections.

Robust support for clinical and benchtop research is available from Norton Research Institute.

  • Residency program certification
  • Active or eligible to obtain a Kentucky medical license

The arm and hand surgery fellowship match is managed by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). with the NRMP.
